Larger House?

The average new home today is about 50% larger than our parents home in 1973, according to the U.S. Census Bureau.  The Census Bureau started tracking this data in the mid-1970s. Also, the number of bedrooms have increased, so the 3 bedroom housing model from the 70s will now be the 4 bedroom housing model, if housing continues to move in this direction. And bathrooms have increased to an average of 3,  along with a 3 or more car garage.
